Dzunisani Maluleke

Maluleke was born on 26 September 1986 in Giyani, Gawula Village in Limpopo. He was the first artist in his family. He matriculated at Hanyani Thomo High School in Thomo Village, where he took art as a major subject. Before he came to Artist Proof Studio (APS) he worked as a security guard. His Art Teacher Moses Mthombheni suggested that he go to APS to study professionally.

In 2009 he joined APS where he was financially supported by MAPPPSETA and later through a TRACKER patronage. He completed his studies and worked at the NOAH`S ARK project where he taught children and later worked as Gallery Assistant.

He was awarded a fellowship at the end of his third year for a residency programme with the William Humphrey’s Art Gallery in Kimberly where he was mentored by the late Dumisani Mabaso. He was working as an independent artist at the time of his death.
