The Window That Watched Her Unveiling brings together layered figures, photographic fragments and dense fields of colour to explore visibility, identity and becoming. Figures emerge from and recede into the surface, creating a shifting relationship between what is seen, concealed and remembered. The work reflects Mbali Tshabalala’s broader engagement with Black women’s experiences, cultural memory and the meeting point between visible and invisible worlds, while its large scale gives the composition an immersive, almost theatrical presence.
