Seruwu is a Ugandan-born, Johannesburg-based contemporary artist. He is self-taught and developed his practice through mentorship with the late Benon Lutaaya. He was also a recipient of the Johann Stegmann Mentorship Programme, which preceded his first solo exhibition. His work is particularly associated with intimate portraiture, vulnerability and human connection.
His portrait provides a quieter and more delicate visual counterpoint to the brighter figurative works.
