Kelebogile Masilo’s O Batla Ho Bonnang?! brings portraiture, flowers and ornamental pattern together in a richly layered composition. The central figure is framed by a circular decorative motif, while an elaborate floral crown partially obscures her gaze. Fine drypoint lines create delicate texture across the figure, hair and surrounding pattern, while selective pink and red watercolour accents animate the flowers. The work explores beauty, identity, visibility and the ways in which a person may be seen by others. Both decorative and psychologically engaging, it is a striking example of contemporary mixed-media printmaking.
Produced in Drypoint and watercolour. The work is presented as supplied by the artist and documented by Perspective Art.
A visually refined work balancing detailed monochrome linework with carefully placed colour. It is well suited to collectors drawn to portraiture, floral symbolism and works on paper.
