Mmutla Mashishi transforms discarded plastic into an animated human form whose posture and textured surface retain a sense of movement and lived experience. Rather than concealing the material’s previous life, the artist allows its irregularity to become part of the sculpture’s character. The work reflects Mashishi’s ability to bring environmental consciousness, humour and close observation of the human figure into a single tactile object.
